Apple Studio Display

O
ne look will tell you that the Apple Studio Display is extraordinary. The translucent blue plastic of the stand and the nontraditional design make a bold statement, and that's before you even turn the power on.

The Studio Display is an active-matrix LCD monitor with 1024x768-pixel resolution. Unlike with many LCD monitors, excellent scaling technology lets the Studio Display also do a good job at lower resolutions.

The panel controls let you easily adjust the image so you can see all the detail in both shadows and highlights.

The images are crisp and the colors are bright, without any of the focus and other defects common to standard CRT.

The Studio Display has a 15. 1-inch-diagonal viewable area, slightly smaller than the average 15. 8-inch area you see on a traditional 17-inch monitor.

The bigger difference is that the Apple monitor is only 9. 8 inches deep and weights just 12 pounds.

If you use the included "picture frame" stand instead of the larger tilt/swivel/height-adjustable stand, the monitor is less than 6 inches deep and 8 pounds. You can even mount it on a wall so it takes up no desk space at all.
