You now have every reason to smile because Canesta and VKB have come up with what we think is the coolest invention around.
Welcome to the age of the virtual where even keyboards can exist simply with a laser beam.
Yes you heard right, this 'virtual' keyboard projects an outline of a keyboard on any flat surface and all you have to do is simply use it as if it were physically there.
It makes use of smart sensors similar to those used in digital cameras and it can differentiate what keys you strike.
What a good way to minimise clutter, don't you think so? Now you see, it, now you don't.

The Ergodex DX1 Input System - Keypad - USB - 25 keys - dark blue, which was invented in Mountain View, lets users assign letters, functions or multi-key macros to each of 25 keys, which can then be placed anywhere on the open working area.
You can arrange commonly repeated tasks into the shape of your hand, or create a pattern of frequently used functions that changes with your mood. Take that, carpal tunnel syndrome!

Every key is a stand-alone display showing the function it is currently associated with.
Each of the Maximus' 113 keys is a miniature OLED display, making every key entirely dynamic and customizable.
Hold down 'Shift' and every key becomes capitalised; preview font styles or re-map every key to suit your application. Night hawks shouldn't fear the dark either, as the Maximus packs an ambient light sensor, dimming and raising each tiny screen's brightness depending on the surrounding conditions.
Pre-orders have begun, and with an asking price of US$1,500 a pop, the first reported cases of keyboard envy have appeared.
