tarot card reading

S
ceptics would always question about Fortune telling, curious people always want to try out something new and cool, but is that true about the age old art of Tarot Reading?

When we start talking about tarot cards, people can always correlate it to fortune telling, gypsies, Celtic ages or even witches. Yet there are people, who no matter what, would never want to come close to it.

The art of tarot reading is and has been a part of the Pagan tradition. Pagans were classed as a group of people who were non-Christian at the Middle ages, and tarot readings was already part of the group long since.

A group of 78 cards, with 22 Major Arcanas and 4 suits of 14 Minor Arcarnas, are placed in different positions of a spread to look at a problem at a different view.

Like I Ching, from ancient China, would give you a perspective towards a certain problem and perhaps show you a clue to a pathway that is easier or wiser for you to take. Taking an example of travelling from point A to point B, there can be a straight route or there can be a long and winding second route to get to the destination or your destiny.

Each has its pros and cons but some things about that will not change, is your destination. Similarly, I Ching also shows you ways that you could move which would not go against what you are doing, but harmonising the path you are taking. With this path there would be mutative and non-mutative, changing and unchanging. Like how day always changes to night but its pattern would not change or stop. This is life as how some would view it.

Tarot itself has a mind of its own which shows different encounters of different people, time and space. Like the art of Numerology, the style and method is timeless, as history would always repeat itself.

Tarot of all Reasons

The Fool

He does not indicate that you are a fool or would be one but more likely a new journey that take and your reactions towards things.

The Magician

He tells of strength and power, being in control of a situation and creativity.

The High Priestess

She announces of someone seeking peace and joy, a time of quietness and solitude.

The Lovers

They signify the importance of love and relationships and tell you which stage or a situation of a relationship you are facing.

Death

He is thought to have brought you physical death when you draw it, but the real idea behind this is similar, that you have been thinking of death, fear, and after death comes a new beginning.

The Universe

He speaks of success and becoming more fulfiled, a justified pride.

Every different type of deck would tell you different things and every design of the card would also say something. Thus, when you are reading a new deck, feel the card, don't read the card or the book only.

You and Tarot

When asking for advice from a deck, there are styles of which you might want to adopt as the tarot would not answer you directly like said before, but would go through a more subtle way of saying things and pointing direction.

Try: What kind of things can I expect to see when I get married with John? • What will affect my career growth? • How can I further improve on how I am working? • Give me some advice on my family relationship?

Don't Try: Will he marry me? • Should I get married now? • Where can I get more money? • When will I get my promotion? • Who is my boyfriend?

Genesis of Tarot with You

Learning how to do a tarot reading can be fun as well as tough. Books are readily available in bookstores for you to buy and would not cost you too much. Learning tarot can be from books, but there is only so much that the writer can say to you through books, the intellectual part of the reading does not equate to the intuitive readings.

There are some tarot decks that also come with a book that teaches you the basics of reading tarot, but books are just books, its better to seek some help from a spiritual therapist who is well versed in tarot to teach or just do a reading for you.

Designed by Brian Williams, this is a very special deck that actually draws deeply from 500-year-old Italian roots of the tarot, rather than simply recycling occultist speculations of more recent vintage. US$15 from Amazon.com.
