omen are going crazy for Trollbeads. If she's more down to earth than precious gems, Trollbeads are a fun new way to say "I love you." Designed in Denmark, the beads are made of sterling silver, 18-carat gold, Italian Murano glass, natural pearls or precious stones, many of them featuring troll-like faces but also other designs than can symbolise personal meaning for the giver and receiver - shared trips, private jokes, important milestones.

The beads can be added to a charm bracelet with a removable clasp, or strung one a chain to wear around the neck. Each bead is a little work of art; Trollbeads were recently shown at the prestigious Sculpture Objects & Functional Art (SOFA) show in Chicago, and has a 30 year history. Prices vary (silver beads range from S$21 to S$42, gold from S$56 to $600). There is a huge market for them at flea markets for the trendy as well as on Singapore's ebay dealers.
