Benz Micro Aircraft Chronograph

W
hy is it that every new-money jacko buys a Rolex? How original...

but what about the art, the craft, the REAL style? If the ads are true and you are your watch, then what does being a Rolex clone say about you?

I'd much prefer a nice watch by Ernst Benz, the Swiss Engineer, Inventor, and Pilot.

Benz, whose name is well known for his 1970's stereo cartridge, the Benz Micro, is also a pilot, and created the Benz Micro Aircraft Chronograph which has become standard equipment in many planes around the world.

In response to the many inquiries received from fellow pilots, he then decided to design and build a large format automatic wristwatch version.

These oversize 47mm diameter watches with a Valjoux 7750 movement are produced in limited quantities, and is loaded with diamonds; on the Outer Bezel - 48 stones, 3.5 carats. And the Inner Bezel has 64 stones, bringing the total up to 5 carats! And you can get yours at Citimex International (65-6392 1268) for the bargain price of just $10,995.

Casio Edifice EF-506DThe muscle car of watches.

W
hen they say gone in 60 seconds, this watch is exactly what they had in mind. From the popular Casio Edifice line comes the EF-506 Series, and it's the kinda of watch you can wear while stripping the transmission on your muscle car.

You won't find no MP3 player, day planner, call synchronising or any of those other sissy features, just shiny hard metal and study construction.

This analog beauty has 3 hands (time-keeping hour and minutes, stopwatch 1/100 seconds) , 3 dials (time-keeping 24-hour and seconds, and a 1/100-second stopwatch with a measuring capacity of 59'59.99", meaning you can make good time no matter what you're driving. Retails at S$178.00 at Casio Wrist Technology Shop at #01-173 Suntec City Mall (+65 6238 6212).

g-shock C3 G-8000

-Shock has been around for 25 years. Wow. That's a lot of generations of teens, sportsmen and NSF guys that have spent a lot of money on Casio.

It also seems like a touch of renovation is appropriate. Which is more or less what it's done with its new C3 G-8000 time pieces.

This new G-Shock has a new sleek design, that should appeal to the younger crowd. Without giving up any of its functionality (World Time, Daylight Saving, Stopwatch, Timer, Alarm, etc), the new G-Shock has a matte or glossy bezel finish that reminds us that there are other companies beside Apple with good designers.

That's not all. Casio is also releasing 26 new models (that's a lot at one go!) to their SHEEN female collection. Not only does it have excellent Casio technology in it, but also a super bright LCD and funky straps.

Choose from leather, stainless steel and resin combination bands. So you can change your watch to reflect your mood anytime. And if you wanna feel like a schoolgirl, try on the new Baby-G for size! Now in a smaller case design, and seven different colours, the new Baby-G is proof that bigger is not always better.

During the early sixties there were great changes in America, particularly, in the civil rights movements.

This meant black popular music became a lot more accepted. Soul and Motown were the main musical styles providing good fast music with a catchy beat which people could easily dance to.

These artists who sang for these labels such as Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson performed in good suits and always appeared very stylish carrying on the tradition of the jazz musicians of the decade before.

Clubs in London picked up on the popularity of this music and started to provide venues where young working class people could go to and dance. The youngsters who were attracted to by this style of music would naturally imitate their idols kicking off a trend of always dressing very stylish. Fashion was of most importance to these working class people who were known as the Mods...
